With tremendous passion for the restaurant industry and demonstrated success in nearly every one of its roles, Ragan Kerney brings over 25 years of knowledge and experience to La Strega as the restaurant’s Service Director.
At 20 years old, Ragan left Northern San Diego where she grew up to travel across the country - living and working in some of the nation’s most beautiful places.
“In my youth, I had an insatiable wanderlust… From the San Francisco Bay Area to Boston, and Santa Fe to Homer, Alaska - I’ve had the opportunity to hone my craft in some of the best dining rooms in the world.”
Ragan has worked in nearly every position in the food and beverage industry from dishwasher to management. Before coming to La Strega, Ragan worked as a Sommelier at the Venetian Hotel. She’s worked with and learned from a collection of incredible mentors that she is proud to call her friends, and says that when the opportunity to work with Chef Gina Marinelli came along, it was one she couldn’t pass up.
In addition to being the Service Director, Ragan also doubles as the restaurant’s sommelier, providing her expertise to run La Strega’s constantly evolving wine program. Ragan is extremely passionate about Italian wine, and is constantly working to stock the restaurant with selections that showcase the best wine from each region in Italy. Each week, La Strega features a unique indigenous Italian wine by the glass. While it is a challenging program to run, Ragan is grateful to be part of its evolution.
Outside of La Strega, Ragan continues to travel and explore new places. She also loves a good glass of wine, reading, watching movies and relaxing with her partner, and their sweet rescue pup Doogie.
